Use LayOut and SketchUp Pro to work smarter, not harder in 2022

SketchUp Pro

The new updates of SketchUp Pro and LayOut, 2022 are off to a great start for SketchUp designers & Architects. New and improved modeling tools are included in SketchUp 2022, along with improved search capabilities, time-saving improvements in LayOut, and many more. Your workflow will be enhanced and simplified so that you can focus on your designs.

SketchUp Pro

Search in SketchUp

SketchUp Pro now has a search feature that allows you to quickly find and activate installed extensions and native commands. Instead of wasting time trying to find or remember the name of a tool in SketchUp, you can enter the tool’s name or a query such as Elevation, Boolean, or Chamfer to find it quickly.

You will be able to get up to speed on the UI and toolset of SketchUp, allowing you to focus on your designs rather than trying to find tools. You can search in SketchUp for what you want a tool to do or search for its name.

Advanced users will benefit from this since toolbars will take up less screen space. Rather than seeing all seven Joint Push or Pull icons, you can now search for Joint Push or Pull, and all actions associated with this extension will appear.

New & Modified Modeling Tool

Lasso Select

A Lasso Select tool allows you to create a custom selection without having to reorient the camera. Additionally, you can choose multiple entities much faster when using a stylus and create discrete selections in one click-drag operation.

Stamp Copy

You can Stamp multiple copies of an entity with just one click if you select a new modifier state for the Move tool Stamp. Using this tool, objects can be distributed naturally across a given area. A landscape design allows you to easily place scale figures or other entourage. Making multiple copies along one axis at irregular intervals is also possible, as with crosswalks when creating an urban design model.

Freehand

Freehand has received a major update in the new version of SketchUp. Smoother curve entities allow you to create organically drawn lines and Follow Me extrusions that have a more natural atmosphere.

As a result of Freehand’s smoother output, more segments are created. You can reduce the segmentation of a curve incrementally immediately after drawing it. Every time the segmentation is reduced, SketchUp provides visual feedback. Axis locking now allows Freehand to specify a drawing plane that allows adjacent faces to be drawn on different planes by dividing the drawing into two.

Tag Tool

Apply tags to entities or pre-selected entities using Tag, a new tool that streamlines model organization. When you use the Tag tool, you can tag objects directly in the modeling window, delete unwanted tags more quickly, and improve reporting fidelity by modifying the tagging of component instances in bulk.

Scene Search

You probably create a lot of different scenes to communicate design details in architectural visualization outputs or construction documentation. The result is that you must visually scan long lists of Scenes with coded names. Newly added to the Scenes tab is Scene Search, an intuitive new mode that enables you to identify and jump directly to your desired scene.

Tangent Interference Lock

Now you can quickly specify and lock arc tangency from a point or arc with new tangent inference toggles for 2-Point and 3-Point Arc tools. You can create curved faces quickly as well as the tangent arc is more predictable than ever.

LayOut

The layOut makes working faster and more efficient with Auto-Text updates and Find & Replace.

Auto-Text Update

Automate the process of annotating drawings, creating numbered pages, and indexing legends via automatic tags without further text processing. You can even use the information embedded in SketchUp models to create more powerful and efficient templates.

Find & Replace

The ability to quickly create and copy text across multiple pages in a LayOut document has always been somewhat elusive, but now you can modify text across an entire document. Make sure all your pages and text boxes are inspected. Because of this, LayOut’s Find & Replace tool is so great for new as well as SketchUp Pro users. A selection, a page, or a document can be changed in a much faster and easier way when using Find & Replace. It helps speed up the quality assurance process and gives you the ability to update drawing titles, page numbers, specified building materials, and correct typos more efficiently. If you are using LayOut, you can activate Find & Replace from the Text menu or by pressing the Ctrl/Command + F shortcut.
