In today’s article, we are going to check out this free extension from FEDRO 6 which allows you to work on different areas inside your Sketchup models. So let’s go and jump into it.
Sketchup Can’t Report Areas?
The reporting tool can be a little bit be tricky. For example, there is no right now to report out areas inside of your model. If you do a file generate report then if you export or import there is actually no report to generate. It just shows quantities of areas. There are no attributes to show any other areas of faces. A lot of time you will get the quantities of different things like paving or building skin etc. This tool from FEDRO 6 is going to do that.
Generating reports from model
You can download this tool from SketchUcation. The link is given down below:

Viewing Report of Material Area in Sketchup
In this case, we are going to focus on one tool which is called Report on Area. That tool is going to report that shows the area of different materials inside Sketchup. This tool will calculate all of the area material inside Sketchup.
Front and Back Sides of Face Reporting
One of the cool things about this is this reports everything by front material and back material. So if you remember, faces in Sketchup have a front side and backside. For example, if you create a box in Sketchup, right-click on the backside and you will be able to view the backside of the box. The lighter side is generally the front side. You will get reports from both sides of the face.
Exporting Sketchup Material in Excel
You can export these files in Excel Sheet also. You can export the file which will show you the measurement of the areas in your Sketchup programs. Further, you can export these to estimating software to plan the cost of materials and etc.
