Fredo6 has created a new terrain maker called TopoShaper. It will take all collective contours and create a terrain surface from them. This is not a replica of the Sandbox tools, but rather a better version which is upgrade in power tools for landscape architects, landscape designers, and site designers. To judge the capability of Sketchup software, one must use plugins. These plugins or extensions greatly upgrade Sketchup’s functionalities and even modifies the abilities of this already great software. Today, we will discuss in this article about great SketchUp extension – TopoShaper.

This is a outstanding plugin, TopoShaper by Fredo6, creates Terrains from iso-forms, that is, shapes which have a steady or semi consistent height. Frequently, while producing terrain with the Sandbox forms tool, it has littler of greater weaknesses, which creates terrain isn’t even and smooth and can look, and is revolting. TopoShaper delivers delightfully even terrains which depends on quads which will glance great in any application you may wish to render them.

Here are some of the reasons which will prove it is different from Sandbox tools :

  • It can breaks in the contours (say from elevation labels) and allows us to manually makes modifications too.
  • It lets us outlook the terrain and contours in multiple views so we can see and edit as needed.
  • The terrain surface sits close to the contours but does not use the contour vertices. So it doesn’t pull to a point, but rather fits the best concave shape it can for the whole length of the contour.
  • It also allows us to set the measurements of the terrain grid so we can choose the level or height detail that we want.

TopoShaper: Points Cloud

It takes a assembling of Guide Points. On the other hand, it encloses faces, that will shape the Clipping Contours. The arched body of the points are taken as default clipping forms.

The Terrain is created as a versatile triangular work, where the height changes which increases the thickness of the triangles. The calculation is reduplicative, by clarification of the triangulation until the Terrain is smooth enough (determined by a smoothing point). Points are a work pieces (for example the terrain passes through the first points).

A collective of Guiding Points is taken by Points cloud. If it encases faces, they will form the Clipping Contours. Otherwise, the Clipping contours are taken as the arched hull of the points. The Terrain is develop as an flexible triangular mesh, where triangles are more dense where the altitude or height changes.

Tip: Softened and smoothed edges make basic geometry look and realistic. In a complicated model, depending on soft and smooth edges can distinguishable lighten the load on your computer’s memory. For instance, you can create the corbel by creating a 2D drawing in the shape of the selected edges. Then import the face into the 3D shape. The shape is quite basic, but the softened and smoothed edges adds to the model’s dimensions and shape. Also, if you draw and import arcs, circles, or curves, these entities apply soft and smooth edges by default.
