In this write-up, we will go through all of the tools included in Extrude Tools – TIG’s amazing extrusion extension for SketchUp. In this article, you will also learn about the different tools and I have explained how each of them works.

Introduction

The fresh thing about Extrude Tools is that it allows you to extrude lines, rather than faces, which gives you a whole series of brand new modeling options. This allows you to require a foothold and use other edges, or rails, to extrude it. You can use a 4th profile (a “Melding Profile”) to level the final direction of the extrusion. Options will cover reverse faces, reverse rails, quad faces, and delete original edges.

Extrude Edges by Rails to Lattice

This works in a similar fashion to Extrude Edges by Rails, on the other hand, allows you to make a lattice from the resulting faces Extrude Edges by Rails is extremely similar to the face creation by curviloft – you’ll select a series of lines, then generate a face with them. You can adjust the number of segments, and if the faces that are generated are quads or not.

Extrude Edges by Edges

This will take 2 groups of grouped edges and use them to get a face by extruding 1 along the opposite.

Extrude Edges by Vector

This allows you to require a foothold and extrude it in any direction you would like. Extrude edges by the vector to object permits you to extrude various, items and intersect them with a face.

Extrude Edges by Lathe

This will allow you to rotate a foothold during a circle, very similar to extruding a face around a circular shape with the follow me tool.

Extrude Edges by Face

This will take a flat face that you have drawn and extrude it beside any edge you select. Theoretically works on multiple paths at once. Extrude edges by faces will integrate two faces along a rail, almost like curviloft’s loft along with path function.

Extrude Edges by Rails by Face

This will extrude a flat face along with a series of rails created by curves.

Extrude by Offset

This will create a face from a line based on a defined thickness.
