Introduction

By using the CAD library Bibliocad, you are able to exchange CAD (computer-aided design) data with BIM (building information modeling) data. With more than 120,000 files that users have uploaded to the site, it provides a wide variety of files to choose from. Even though Bibliocad’s materials are often oriented towards architectural projects, there is also a wide variety of files in other categories, such as cars, machines, symbols, and many more, that are also accessible through the site.

With Bibliocad’s free membership, you will be able to download a limited number of files each day from a limited selection of free downloads. A subscription fee of $9.99 per month or $9.99 per year will allow you to access the premium files, along with the possibility of doubling the limit of downloads per day to 200.

The primary function of Bibliocad is to act as a comprehensive library of files, but visitors can also take advantage of some free lessons and interviews to learn about various design tools and processes.

What are some alternatives to Bibliocad?

For anyone who prefers an alternative to Bibliocad, here are a few suggestions:-

BIMobject

If you are looking for files in established categories, you may find useful files with the tags MasterFormat, Uniformat, and OmniClass.

If you are looking for a file based on established categories, you may be able to find files that bear the tags MasterFormat, Uniformat, and OmniClass that are helpful if you are looking for those files. There are plug-ins available for AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Revit, Vectorworks, and SketchUp, so you can get started right away.

BIMobject has a very well-organized website, with simple yet effective filters, as well as a search box that can be very helpful when trying to find what you want. You are free to download any of the files on the site, but you must first register in order to download anything.

CAD Blocks

You can find all kinds of high-quality AutoCAD elements and blocks at CAD Blocks, which is a great resource for CAD blocks. It is a great relief to know that every file that is accessible has been optimized so that it can work seamlessly with AutoCAD.

A wide range of blocks can be found on the website, the majority of which are free, however, there are some that are also charged. It is possible for users to earn a modest commission on each download of their own CAD blocks by submitting their own designs. Due to this, it’s a great platform for artists to exchange ideas and earn rewards for their work, as a result of which they can exchange ideas.

You will be able to find exactly what you are looking for in a sample gallery, so you will know exactly what you are getting before you make your purchase. Moreover, if you’re in a hurry, you can download the free models without having to create an account, so you won’t have to create an account to download the free models.

DWG Models

Another option that only works with DWG files is DWG Models. Despite having a much smaller variety than some of the other websites on our list, the site’s exclusive emphasis makes it a helpful platform for architects and artists.

The majority of the 2D CAD blocks offered by DWG Models are cost-free, although certain premium files come with a little fee. Filters for paid and free files are available, and while searching the whole collection, the free files are identified by a green checkmark.

Architectural features, bridges, maps, visual symbols, and urban planning are a few helpful categories. Fortunately, you may access the files on this website without registering, making it a fantastic option if you want to fast download.

CADdetails

There is a library with an extensive focus on architecture and construction called CADdetails that contains some priceless resources pertaining to these fields. There are over 50,000 free 2D CAD blocks available on the website in addition to about 10,000 free 3D BIM models.

Aside from hosting blocks that are made by other companies, CADdetails also offers some of its own blocks.

You can find a variety of different digital resource formats, such as DWG, RVT, and SKP, available for download. By using the MasterFormat and/or the Product Type navigation buttons, you are able to filter the search results according to your preferences.

Aplus

Aplus is an innovative, easy-to-use website that offers a vast collection of over 20,000 CAD blocks, symbols, and details for free, which are all available to download via its website. Each block can be downloaded separately, and you do not even need to be registered to download them. In terms of a drawback, the only thing to consider is that only DWG files are available for download, and depending on your needs, that may be a problem.

An Autodesk-authorized developer called Aplus has developed the most powerful AutoCAD add-on ever, specifically designed for architects and sold by a company called Aplus.

TurboSquid

The archive provided by TurboSquid is used by students, game developers, architects, engineers, and professional designers from all around the world. There are several things that make this website stand out, most notably the fact that it offers 24/7 customer service and has a simple returns policy, both of which are very useful.

Out of the over 20,000 files available on this website, only 270 DWG models are available without a paid subscription, although there are many other file types available on this website. . It is also necessary to register on this website in order to gain access to it, but the process is relatively quick and worth the effort in light of the benefits it offers.

Archweb

You can also find CAD blocks on Archweb, a website with a large selection of free downloads as well as a large selection of CAD blocks. In spite of the fact that the homepage of the website is in Italian, the category list, as well as other useful information, can also be accessed in English on the website as well.

As one of the most comprehensive CAD file libraries available on the Internet today, Archweb hosts a vast library of 28,000 CAD blocks that are readily available for free. Almost all 2D files are contained within the DWG format, and there are also many 3D files available in this format as well. As a result of the website’s categories that are specifically tailored to very specific terms, you are able to find what you are looking for very quickly and easily.

Personal style is a very important element of showcasing design. StyleBuilder allows users for creating customized line styles by using digital or hand-drawn strokes. Users are also able to combine the line styles with different textures, colors, and watermarks to add creativity to the models, renders, and animations.

Creating 2D based drawing and presentation documentation

After adding a style, users have to insert the models into LayOut. When users import a 3D-based model a viewport is added to the page automatically. The set-up scenes in SketchUp files always are ready for use in LayOut.

Users are also able to use the combined model views with the text and 2D-based vector illustration for presenting the detail of design, materials, and various design options. Many tools of LayOut work the same as SketchUp. So, users are able to draw, resize, add detail, make copies, and change the scales.

If users want to create 2D-based drawings so users must have to use the Australian 2D Templates. It also saves the precious time of the users.

All CAD tools are not editable on the web but SketchUp is editable. If any user in an office of client and the client want to see the project of revised furniture layout then users have to open a model in SketchUp for web from the Trimble Connect to make the changes in real-time. Users have to save the file to Trimble Connect to access it easily.

Users are also able to create rendering images with the help of Trimble Connect Visualizer. If users subscribe to SketchUp Pro then they can create renders by using Trimble Connect for desktop and also the Trimble Connect Visualizer. This is only available for windows.

Users are also able to step into AR/VR to get the experience of designs before the models build. If users have access to VR then they are able to bring 3D-based models in virtual reality. It also has a SketchUp mobile viewer option. So, users can able to set the features.

Nowadays printed drawings or pdf are not the only options to present the work but there are many options like SketchUp Viewer for Mobile that can view and share the portfolio of users on iOS and Android devices. Users are also able to switch between the scenes for showcasing designs while retaining the style of models. If users have a SketchUp subscription AR viewer is free for them.

The new version named Trimble SiteVision allows users to place true-to-scale models in various environments so that they can see 3D-based data very comfortably. Users are also able to take a tour of their designs in real-time and show each and every detail.

We’ve formerly blazoned the release of SketchUp 2021 in one of our former papers – real each about what’s new in SketchUp 2021 then! One of the most interesting features of SketchUp that Trimble blazoned this fall, still, is the PreDesign in SketchUp Pro 2021. This requires a detailed understanding. Let us claw in!

The SketchUp 2021 PreDesign point is for engineers and contrivers who want to, sort of, test drives their creation a bit before it actually takes shape. That’s to say, the developer can, using this point, now test out the environmental impact of their structure in the area, and alternatively, the effect of the point climate on the structure.

The need for PreDesign

Green structure is all the rage now, and for good reason. The effect of climate change is making us all suppose about effects like sustainable armature and energy effectiveness and environmental footmark. All of these can be estimated using technical environmental scientific software ( looking at you, Sefaira!) – and relatively effectively, too.

Still, the problem with that approach is that this has to be done only after you have a complete model available of the structure. This means, that any new opinions you make depending upon the environmental analysis data about changes in the design, will be hard to apply since the full model is ready now.

PreDesign circumvents this issue by letting you see the environmental impacts of and on the structure at the foremost stages of the design development. Using this, you can make numerous important big opinions regarding the climate responsiveness of your structure that may be hard to take latterly on as the model complexity grows.

How PreDesign Works

PreDesign is useful for anyone designing a building or doing a building renovation. It will also work in outdoor space designs. You can also use the PreDesign tool to get inspiration or ideas to build or renovate in a particular area.

Using the PreDesign tool in SketchUp 2021, you can find and assimilate climate information of the immediate surroundings and of the general area. This helps you take better decisions at the phase where the design work is still in its infancy. Furthermore, this will let you device design strategies, or choose between a few different approaches for the building design.

But not only that, you can use this tool for your customers too. You can tell your clients how and what they exactly need using the environmental impact models at the very basic stage, and convince them to choose one specific approach that will best fit the local climate and will produce the least emissions.

Incorporating these climate factors in your design at an early stage is paramount for the rest of your design lifecycle since these decisions will shape the tomorrow of your model.

Do’s and Don’t with PreDesign

  • It should be used in the research or concept phase of a design or renovation work.
  • It can be used to filter through various design ideas and present them to your client to select the best fit for budget and climate.
  • It can be used EARLY, to avoid costly design modification work LATER.
  • It cannot be used to automatically apply design strategies.
  • It cannot be used to guarantee compliance with greed-building standards – that’s on your own to check.
  • It cannot be used on a specific 3D model you are working on (it only looks at building type and climate history and provides suggestions based on that).

Hope you have made good use of this information. We will be back later with more in-depth looks at the features of Sketchup 2021.

]]>
While we have already published our introduction to Sketchup 2021, we feel the new features of this great Trimble product are too big to cover in one article. So we are explaining them one by one separately – and today we have the new tag management in Sketchup 2021 to explain.

Tags are everywhere in every 3D modeling system, in different names or guises. They are very useful to organize objects in neat classifications. In SketchUp, you can make tags by using the Tags panel and assign objects to existing tags by using the Entity Info panel. However, SketchUp 2021 has kicked this up quite a few notches.

The latest improvements with tags in SketchUp 2021 lets you label and organize your groups and other entities like never before. Using the new Tag Management system, you will be able to have a much clearer, organized model structure. It’s like stocking your spice drawer with perfectly labeled spice jars.

How does it work?

It was a longstanding complaint with SketchUp users that tag management becomes a real headache as the model grows more complex. And it can really increase your blood pressure when you’re setting up a big 3D model for 2D documentation like in LayOut. Lots of tags everywhere give you nowhere to go. Plus, when you needed to control model visibility, you had to click each tag separately.

Tag Folders

That is why the developers at Trimble have come up with the idea of Tag Folders. You can now create folders in the tag panel, which can contain tags. This will greatly aid you in bulk model visibility control and will let you organize tags quicker and more easily.

The advantage of this new Tag Folder in SketchUp 2021 is twofold. First, you can take better control of your tags and organize them in a much more efficient manner. Secondly, as tag folders behave much like tags in the panel, you can enable or disable whole folders full of tags to turn on or off large chunks of your model quickly.

Obviously, when designing in a given scenario, or when doing documentation, reporting, or just handling visibility in the model, this new system will come in very handy. Because most tags are in a folder, you will now be able to locate similar types of tags much more easily. Furthermore, it becomes just a one-click affair to turn on or off great portions of the model.

New Tag Management

Tag Filter

So now you can organize tags better now, but how about finding the right one in a bunch of tags? That’s where another long-awaited request of the SketchUp users got fulfilled. And it is so easy to do it now! The tag panel now features a text box on top – you start typing out the expected tag name and the SketchUp tag panel will automatically filter in the tags containing that word. Yes, it’s that easy!

It goes without saying that when you’re in a rush to quickly turn on or off parts of your model, this can and will come in very handy – especially in models that are worked upon by multiple parties. You will find line updating becomes a breeze in this method as well. Home in quickly on the tags you need and perform operations.

Tip: This gets even better with some clever folder-filter combo work. When naming your tags, start with particular prefixes for given categories of entities. Then, when organizing, just filter by the prefix and drag them to the required folders.

How to add tags and tag folders in SketchUp 2021

Adding tags:

  1. Open the tags panel.
  2. Click on the plus-in-a-circle sign in the upper left corner.
  3. A new blank tag appears.
  4. Type in the name of the tag (Hint: see the tip above.)
  5. Now you can add this tag to an entity.

Note: To create a new tag under a folder, you need to select the folder before step 1.

Adding tag folders:

  1. Open the tag panel. Make sure nothing is selected.
  2. Click on the second icon (beside the ‘add tag’ icon).
  3. A new blank folder appears.
  4. Give it a name. Using a naming convention is recommended.
  5. Drag and drop some tags into it, as you see fit.
  6. You can select a bunch of tags by holding down the shift button and drag them all together into the new folder. Works best with a tag filter.

Note: If you had one or more tags selected before step 1, a new folder will get created containing them. Not recommended, but can be time-saving when you are well-practiced with the new tagging system in SketchUp 2021.

Introduction

Autodesk Revit has experienced a tough decade over the past decade. Those who adopted it early praised its fast-twitch drawing generation and building modeling capabilities. AutoCAD users of old criticized the software for being tedious, complex, and counterproductive to design. Revit has made great strides in the areas of user experience and precision. But as a design tool, it still leaves much to desire.

The BIM industry has been waiting for V-Ray for Revit for a long time. V-Ray for Revit renders designs in real-time, as well as enhances them up to a photorealistic level without leaving the program. Approximately 95% of all 3D artists in the world use it.

Why does Revit need V-ray?

With the introduction of V-ray for Revit, the equation is set to change. It’s one of the biggest criticisms of Revit that it makes designers lazy. Imagine that you can move a few windows here and there, and the entire set of drawings will magically coordinate.

As a result, a complex building can design more quickly and with fewer constraints. It is important to check, check, and check again when using a drafting program like AutoCAD. It will ensure that every line reinforces something important about the design. However, Revit can improve design rather than hinder it with integrated rendering software such as V-ray.

That is why V-ray for Revit is so useful. Architects can gain better insight by changing colors, materials, and even the fundamental massing of their design on the fly in V-ray, and clients have more options in moving forward. This feedback loop improves Revit’s efficiency and makes it more informative. Even though the software facilitated construction project management and expanded production. But it lacked the visual quality to become a complete package. V-ray for Revit now addresses this issue & solves it perfectly.

Features of V-ray integration with Revit

The V-RAY for Revit software integrates seamlessly with the primary system. Most people are unaware that Chaos Group’s flagship rendering engine integrates seamlessly with Revit’s unique BIM capabilities. Since the model is being made as if it would be built in the real world, a rendered representation of the model can be 100% accurate. Changing materials and adjusting the design of a scene makes it easy to render multiple versions of the same scene with Revit.

Moreover, V-RAY for Revit makes it easier for studios to generate construction documents and design documents more quickly. An architect will usually wait until the design is far enough along to minimize future changes before starting work on construction documents.

An inadequately developed drawing set may prevent the company from undergoing sweeping changes without incurring a cost. The speed and ease of modifying Revit are also benefits. Without the proper visuals to guide the design, it is impossible to judge the merit of the changes.

Final Thoughts

V-ray integration goes a long way to regaining some of the power of visual awareness by giving architects and designers back some of the discipline necessary to have complete control over a set of drawings. With seamless integration, V-RAY makes it easy to create realistic images. The production phase and the design phase operate in parallel, so no step misses. When the architect moves forward with production early in the design process, he can catch issues before they become expensive for the firm, the client, or the contractor.

SketchUp Viewer for Virtual Reality

A powerful new way to coordinate, evaluate, and communicate in Mixed Reality: SketchUp Viewer for VR allows you to bring together colleagues and clients during a virtual design review.

You can control what others see through this application’s collaboration functionality. It is also possible to connect via a remote connection with other co-located users. Virtual reality (VR) helps facilitate effective communication between you and your team members regarding complex spatial issues. As well as seeing and interacting with your designs, you can also view them as virtual model complements or replaces the necessity of building physical models.

It includes many of the same tools you are used to in SketchUp, including viewing, navigation, and information tools. By choosing from the list of your SketchUp scenes, you can fly around your project models, toggle layer visibility on or off to control model visibility, and use the Tape Measure tool and Entity Information tool for quick access to important information about your model.

Workflow of SketchUp Viewer
